Louis Chenevert’s Advice on Maintaining a Successful Company

Background:

Louis R. Chenever is the current CEO of United Technologies Coroporation. He has been in this position since 2006. Before that he was the President of Pratt & Whitney from 1999 to 2006. He is also a member of the Executive Committees of the Business Roundtable. In addition to this in 2005 he was inducted as Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

He formerly studied at the University of Montreal in Canada and obtained a bachelor of commerce degree in production management.

Chenever’s Advice on Sustaining a successful Business:

Chenever strongly believes that investing in your employees is the key ingredient to a successful business. He feels that companies often times overlook the potential growth factor of their current employees. Sometimes companies would bring in a new employee to fill a higher position rather than training their current employee to fill that position. He feels that this is a big mistake that can reduce work morale. He stated that one, as a manager you already know your current employees strengths and weaknesses. Two, you show that you appreciate your current employees’ hard work and dedication towards the company when you offer them a higher position and salary. Three, it also reduces turn over which in turn can cost the company money. People resign from companies many times when feel that their hard work and dedication went unnoticed. In addition to this, it increases company moral when other employees see that their fellow colleague is getting promoted. This will encourage your other employees to work harder towards the possibility of also getting promoted.

He also advises senior managers to create an atmosphere of trust between employees. Don’t give into politics putting employees against each other by having them spy on each other. Instead a senior manager should make the atmosphere a comfortable place that an employee enjoys coming to. After all most people spend more time at the office than they do at home.

Also investing in their educational future helps, especially if the degree will relate to what they’re doing for the company. Most employees will feel even more loyal to their employer if the employer invests in their future.

Overall, Chenever believes that a transparent, safe work environment that believes in investing its employees are the key ingredients to a successful company.

With M1nd, Jeunesse Global conquers new realms in energy drink market

One of the more disappointing results to emerge from the field of psychology over the last few decades has been the ironclad and well-replicated finding that there is simply no way to increase intelligence. Literally trillions of dollars have been spent in an effort to find the magic formula that would somehow enable people or groups with lower intelligence to rise above their limitations. The fact that so much money has been spent on this effort with so much hope of finding a way to raise the intelligence of various groups and people is a powerful indicator that the goal of increasing brainpower is largely a quixotic mission.

The field of psychology has, furthermore, generated reams of evidence to this effect. However, there are a couple of very interesting caveats to the rule that intelligence cannot be raised. One interesting finding is that while adults who have lower intelligence due to a deprived environment probably cannot benefit from interventions to raise their IQs, children who are still living in deprived environments can end up with considerably higher intelligence through enriching their environments.

But this is not a case of actually raising intelligence. Rather, it is a case of removing negative environmental factors that are conspiring to lower it. In a similar way, it is also possible to increase cognitive performance by removing factors, environmental or not, that are causing a lull in performance.

Two of the most common factors that can lower cognitive performance are fatigue and poor attention span. These two factors have been successfully combated through the use of such drugs as Ritalin and Adderall. Now, even those who do not meet the criteria for a diagnosis of attention deficit disorder are taking these performance-enhancing drugs to excel at their jobs and school.

But those drugs often come with serious side effects and health risks. That’s why Jeunesse Global, one of the leading health companies in the world, has developed M1nd, a mental health drink that has many of the same effects as Ritalin and Adderall but that’s also 100 percent natural.

M1nd is the best way to gain a competitive edge through superior cognitive performance.

Robert Deignan Talks About How ATS Digital Services Started

Robert Deignan is the Co-Founder as well as the Chief Executive Officer of ATS Digital Services, which is a digital support company designed to help customers worldwide with various technological concerns – from connectivity issues to overall troubleshooting. Deignan attended Purdue University and graduated with a degree in Organizational Leadership. After a couple of brief stints as a player with the Miami Dolphins in 1997 and the NY Jets in 1998, Deignan co-founded Fanlink, Inc., which was his first entrepreneurial venture.

The idea behind ATS Digital Services, according to Deignan, started while he was working for a different company. Before launching ATS Digital Services, Deignan an his business partners worked for an Anti-Malware Software Company and they used to have tech issues when it came to getting the software installed on the user’s machine. The company had a trial software strategy – so that users who were happy with it were able to purchase it after 15 days of using it free of charge.

By 2009, due to the problem that started from having trouble installing the software on user’s machine, the company put up a phone number on their download page in order to communicate with users and get to the end of the issue. As a result of the conversation with the customers, the company came up with a solution, which was to have their own in-house tech support agents remotely connect to users’ computers in an effort to fix the problems.

The strategy was a success, and it helped increase trust from the users. Additionally, Deignan and his associates realized that they were able to charge a fee for the efficacy of the remote service. By the time he moved on and left the company, him and his associates felt that using remote connection technologies was a great opportunity for them to help users fix their computer issues and a great opportunity for them to start a business. When talking about current exciting trends in the industry, Robert Deignan points to the fact that more and more users are now embracing remote technologies in order to fix their computers.

The Experiences of Robert Ivy

Robert Ivy became the Editor in Chief of Architectural Record in 1996 and was a critic for many national publications. He became a Master Architect in 2010 by the national architecture fraternity, Alpha Rho Chi. Ivy is one of seven people to have this honor, and is the only architect that was selected in the 21st century.

Recently, the Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Robert Ivy. The Polk Award is only given to living Mississippi-connected artists whose work over a lifetime of performing and creating is extraordinary and worthy of extreme honor. This is the first time an architect has ever received this award. Ivy has expanded the presence and influence of the organization. The American Institute of Architects is at its highest level of membership now than it ever has been before. Before joining the American Institute of Architects, where he received the Polk Award, he received multiple awards. Learn more about Robert Ivy on Steel Institue of New York

The American Institute of Architects is considered professional organization. In some industries, you have to belong to an organization to show that you’re committed to your job. Robert Ivy points out, “Architects know the association stands for certain values and to be a member, you adhere to those values, and you’re held accountable”. Organizations provide other opportunities for networking, as well. Networking helps build relationships that result in work opportunities.

It might benefit some workers to join more than one association. For example, there are at least, if not more, nine societies only for accountants. It might have a cost to join multiple associations, but one association might have something another one doesn’t. If Robert Ivy didn’t network out, and only stayed in one association, he might not have been able to get to where he is today.

Robert has been an advocate for the architect profession. His members look to him to focus the American Institute of Architects efforts and resources while also help grow the association.

The Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award recently recognized Ivy, i.e., it was presented by the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters. Robert is the very first Architect to be recognized in this award category. What’s more, the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters acknowledge only those living in Mississippi or those in close association and whose contribution is significant to them (in Mississippi) Previously, the award was just given to actors, writers, and singers and this makes Robert Ivy very distinct.

Robert Ivy seems very influential because those in the higher offices tend to think highly of him. Carl Elefante, his boss, says (the president of AIA) he sees Robert’s recognition by the MIAL as an achievement, not only in his personal life but also in his career. The head of MIAL, Nancy LaForge seems to believe that Robert Ivy’s creativity is readily available to the general public.

Robert has also acquired other awards; Master Architect Award, which recognizes creativity among architects by the National Architecture Fraternity and Dean’s Medal in last year.

Robert Ivy was also a law enforcer in the army before starting his career in architecture, maybe one of the lessons he acquired there is absolute dominance, which makes him able to influence people wherever he has been. His passions for design and architecture being his building blocks have significantly contributed to his success.

This Noel Polk Lifetime Achievement Award that Robert has managed to take home may significantly change a lot in future. Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters seem to be recognizing talent in art all around.

Gregory Aziz Continues The Legacy Of National Steel Car

At present, National Steel Car is one of the leading manufacturers of rail cars in Northern America and across the globe. The company started in 1912 and started as a flourishing business that went beyond the expectations of its investors and founders. The only setback that happened was when the Great Depression began in 1929 and took place most of the 1930s. At that time, the company was unable to secure large orders to defray the company’s monetary needs and meet the diversified requirements of existing and potential clients. In 1960, Dofasco, a steel mining firm located in Ontario bought National Steel Car.

Greg James Aziz is the present President, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of National Steel Car. He was schooled at Ridley College and took his Economics Degree from the Western Ontario University. Then he worked with the family’s business, Affiliated Foods in 1971. The family business is an international food importer of food from countries in South America, Central America and Europe, and has distributes the imported produce to major wholesale outlets located in Easter Canada and the whole of the United States.

Subsequent to working for their family venture, Gregory Aziz left for New York City and found employment with numerous banks in the city. When 1994 came, he purchased National Steel Car from its then current owner DOFASCO. After he acquired the company, Gregory Aziz found out that despite the excellent engineering skills present in the company it could only produce 3,500 cars in one year. Wanting to make National Steel Car a leading rail freight car in Northern America, he added more capital to get the company off the ground, and at the same time hired more employees. Go Here for more information.

By 1999, National Steel Car is already able to yield 12,000 cars yearly and the number of its workers grew from 600 to around 3,000. The excellent engineering ingenuity and innovative capabilities of National Steel Car has earned the ISO 9001:2008 certification and the TTX SECO award consistently.

Greg Aziz states that the ultimate assistance he and his company can give to the community of Hamilton and the surrounding areas is to consistently provide employment that has good pay and benefits. And to show gratitude for the community that has been with National Steel Car through the years, Greg Aziz and his family sponsors numerous local charities including the food drive activities of the local food banks within the vicinity of Hamilton, Ontario.

Whitney Wolfe Refuses To Compromise With Match Group In Tinder Row

Think all dating sites are the same? There’s a reason for that. Popular dating apps and websites like Tinder, Match, PlentyOfFish, and OKCupid are all owned by Match Group, a large corporation that has a near-exclusive monopoly with many of the largest dating sites under its wing. One notable app missing from its profile is the women-focused dating app Bumble, led by CEO Whitney Wolfe.

It’s no surprise then that on March 16, Match Group filed a lawsuit against Bumble alleging patent infringement by saying that Bumble copied Tinder’s functionality and mimicked how the app works. Match Group says it will defend its intellectual property in court against Bumble, but digging a little bit deeper this seems to be a retaliatory response to CEO Whitney Wolfe’s refusal to be bought and acquired.

Match Group attempted to acquire Bumble last year for $450 million, but tech valuations suggest the company could be worth as much as $1 billion. CEO Whitney Wolfe refused the buy-out in part because she’s tired of the male-focused corporate culture that has invaded even out dating sites. She recently stated in an interview that she’s not afraid of aggressive corporate culture and that the tactic of attempting to bully Bumble into submission or a buyout settlement won’t work.

Wolfe has the chops to stand up to Match Group, too. She attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas and was a co-founder of Tinder and served as the vice president of marketing, often credited with creating Tinder’s iconic name. Mrs. Wolfe left the company in 2014 to found Bumble with the help of Andrey Andreev, the founder of Badoo.

Bumble is a women-focused site that allows women to take the first step in initiating contact with men they’re interested in matching with. Bumble takes a hard-line stance against those who exhibit bad behavior while using the app, which is why more women are focused on the experience it provides over rivals. In fact, Whitney Wolfe has worked to expand Bumble’s presence into other markets like professional networking with Bumble Bizz and making platonic friendships with Bumble BFF.

With a valuation of more than $1 billion, it’s likely that Mrs. Wolfe will expand her company to have a public presence with an IPO in the near future. The focus on Bumble’s users and the refusal to compromise with Match Group make her the perfect leader to weather this intimidation tactic disguised as a patent infringement lawsuit and it’s a shining example of what women in tech can do when they’re in leadership positions.

Gregory James Aziz is an amazing member of his community and a skilled businessman. Not only does his participation in a lot of philanthropy through his company, National Steel Car, but he and his wife Irene are major sponsors of the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair. National Steel Car is a major employer in the community of Hamilton, Ontario as well. The freight car engineering and manufacturing company may be one of the world’s best, but Aziz and his team do not forget about the people around them. Every year, the company hosts a large Christmas party for over 3,000 employees and their families. This gives them a chance to show their workers how much they truly appreciate them.

In addition to their company charity, National Steel Car does a food drive during its Christmas party to help those that are less fortunate. Aziz and his company are also patrons in the community for the Theatre Aquarius, The Hamilton Opera, the Salvation Army, the United Way, and a host of other charities locally. They take their position in the community very seriously, because it is in part responsible for their success. Every single worker matters to CEO Gregory Aziz. Since he took over the company in 1994, the National Steel Car family has been his passion.

Greg Aziz was born in London, Ontario in 1949. He joined the family business, Affiliated Foods, in 1971 after receiving a degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario. This was where Aziz started to cut his teeth in the business world and where he earned his very first successes. When he first came across National Steel Car, it was not the bustling business that it is today. The company had been on the decline for several years and the owner, Dofasco, was looking to unload it.

James Aziz saw potential in the company. He wanted to turn it into something that the entire community could be proud of. He purchased it and immediately started hiring people. He took the time to train them, pushing for higher quality products and well as better training. Eventually, he turned the small 600 worker facility into the booming business that it is today. While Aziz may be a successful global titan now, he has never forgotten about where he came from. This is one of the reasons why he and his company are so philanthropic in this area. If there is one thing that Gregory Aziz knows, it is that success starts with the community. Read This Article to learn more.
